Play, Learn and Grow

Every child carries endless possibilities within. Each child is unique and develops in their own way and at their own pace. Their environment, parents and childcare providers can support this process. This guidance is what we call pedagogy.

Both parents and the government expect childcare to contribute to a child’s upbringing. Every childcare centre and childminding agency therefore has a pedagogical plan describing its vision on working with children. There are different pedagogical approaches, and every person raises children in their own way.

These are the pillars of our pedagogical vision:

Emotional Safety and Connection

A child’s well-being forms the foundation of their development and growth. A warm, safe and attentive atmosphere is essential.
A home environment is ideal for this. Children recognise daily routines, which provides clarity and security. Kroost Nannies believes in equality between parents, nannies and children. Everyone acknowledges their responsibilities and considers others.
Nannies respond to what a situation requires: sometimes giving a child space to play independently, other times offering one-on-one attention, extra comfort or further explanation.

Personal Skills

Children develop personal skills—such as independence, confidence, flexibility and creativity—mainly through play.
They are encouraged in motor play that supports both fine and gross motor development. Children also learn through daily activities, like setting the table, running errands or taking out recycling.
Our nannies use every opportunity as a playful “learning moment” to support language, motor and social development.

Social Skills

Social skills are essential for interacting with others: understanding another person’s perspective, communicating, cooperating, helping others, preventing or resolving conflicts, and developing social responsibility. Children build these skills every day, often unconsciously.
Our nannies guide children with a positive attitude, focusing on what the child can do and what is going well. Children grow—literally and figuratively—from encouragement, compliments and their own successes.

Values, Norms and Culture

Our society has its own values, norms and culture. Every family has these, too, in its own unique form.
Nannies working through Kroost Nannies respect each individual child, their parents, their background and their culture.
