Employed nanny

Working with an employed nanny in your household – is that possible for your family?

The chance of finding a kind, experienced nanny/gastouder at home is much higher.

Payroll administration and related tasks are handled by us.

Your nanny will have a full employment relationship, making your offer attractive to childcare professionals considering working as a nanny.

Most nannies/gastouders at home currently work under the Home Care Services Scheme. While this offers families flexibility, it has a major drawback for the nanny: they do not have a safety net if they can no longer work, for example, in the event of job loss or long-term illness.

In large cities and areas where many families use at-home childcare, finding a well-trained, experienced, and motivated nanny/gastouder at home is a real challenge. Demand is high, and supply is limited.

As a family, it is difficult to “compete” with other families in terms of work content and environment: fun children, nice neighborhood, pleasant employer, holiday gifts, etc.

However, you do have an advantage if you can offer better employment conditions. This can be for one day a week, five days a week, or anything in between.

For a parent-nanny collaboration that provides the nanny with employment conditions comparable to those at a daycare or after-school care, a nanny will be more willing to make the switch. She will then also have benefits such as continued payment during illness, vacation pay, and a safety net in case of unemployment. Even nannies currently working under the Home Care Services Scheme may be interested in switching if good employment conditions are offered.

If you are already working with a nanny/gastouder at home and want to give her the security of an employment contract, we are happy to explain the possibilities.

For parents working in this way with a nanny, we handle everything related to the Dutch Childcare Act, so these parents are also eligible for childcare allowance.

Working as an employed nanny – what does it mean for you?

The match is good, so the employment conditions are good too:

You are entitled to continued payment during illness, just like in any regular employment, as well as paid vacation.

No more worries about paying income tax or applying for provisional assessments. You simply receive a net income.

In case of unemployment, you may be eligible for benefits through the Dutch Employee Insurance Agency (UWV).

Most nannies/gastouders at home currently work under the Home Care Services Scheme. The downside is that you have no safety net if you can no longer work. That is why Kroost Nannies offers nannies the possibility to work with a full employment contract. For you as a nanny, this means the security of a safety net in case of illness or unemployment.

This way of working makes it feasible for childcare professionals to make the switch to this wonderful form of childcare and provides parents with the certainty of quality at-home care by an experienced, motivated nanny.

And it’s not just childcare professionals who find this attractive – care workers or others with a qualification that allows them to work as a gastouder, who love working with children, can now easily make the switch as well.

Are you currently a nanny/gastouder at home working under the Home Care Services Scheme? We are happy to explain to you and the family you work for more about these improved employment conditions!
